SACLC is the name given to Registered Healthcare Professionals who have completed an intense Post Graduate Lactation course and are considered South African Certified Lactation Consultants.

SACLC has no affiliation with any other companies and is a stand-alone company, not sponsored by any code-violating companies, nor endorsing them.

This intense course with a three hour exam, seeks to enhance the health of the community by promoting breastfeeding and encouraging the observation of published standards and ethical codes by the International Lactation Consultants Association and the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants, while catering for lifestyles, cultures and the National Health Structures in place in South Africa.

The course has been developed by Sr. Hettie Grové and Sr. Lynda Lilienfeld, who are both Registered Nurses, Midwives, and Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultants and qualified as International Certified Childbirth Educators but did not recertify. Sr Hettie Grové also has a degree in Nursing Education and Administration, Obtained a Diploma in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal, a certificate in PHC and Pharmacology for nurses, and a Certified Sensitive Midwife, the author of the book “Born to Breastfeed, Born to be Breastfed”.

Both Sr. Grové and Sr. Lilienfeld have been in private practice running registered Well-Baby Clinics since 1997, offering well-baby. Still, mostly lactation consults, Childbirth Education Classes, and assisting mothers with lactation and feeding. Sr Lynda has retired and acts in an advisory role.
